LUCY NOBLE … POINT TAKEN!

Lucy Noble, an investment banker from Missouri, was so frustrated with the economic “doings” or “nondoings” of lawmakers in Washington that she decided to figure out a way to make her disgust known.  She hired a company to fly a banner that read, “Thanks for the downgrade.  You should all be fired.”  At first Lucy wanted to have it flown over Washington, but with the no fly zone in place,  she settled on having it flown over Manhattan.  It was such an unusual form of communication that she got lots of airtime on local and national television and radio networks and internet hits!

WHO’DA THUNK IT?

What is the origin of some of our familiar product names?

Pop Tarts -  Originally made by Post and called “Country Squares”,  Kellogg’s rushed through their version and gave them a very trendy name – named after Andy Warhol’s Pop Art phenomena-  Kellogg’s Pop Tarts became the winner.

Nike -  Greek goddess of Victory

Starbucks – A mining camp on Washington’s Mount Rainer is named Starbo.   The first mate from Captain Ahab’s ship, Pequod in the book Moby Dick is named Starbuck.  Both played a part in the naming of the famous chain.
