WONDER CAPES – SPECIAL POWERS OF COURAGE AND HOPE INCLUDED

Superheroes don’t always need capes.  This one just sews them for others.  Amy Pankratz is a stay at home mom of three from South Dakota.  At the end of each busy day, Amy spends her evening sewing for others – children fighting childhood diseases.  Amy’s daughter Isabella was hospitalized when she was four.  She took her pink, princess superhero cape her mother had fashioned for her to the hospital.  Click here to read more.. »

A REAL CAPED CRUSADER

Driving in Maryland, you glance over and see a black Lamborghini.  Unusual sight, maybe, but it gets more amazing.  You manage to take a peek at the driver and realize it is none other than the Caped Crusader, himself (kinda), Batman.  Just a few differences – first, this one’s real name is Lenny B. Robinson from Baltimore County, Maryland, and he is not fighting criminals, he is fighting terrible childhood diseases.  This Batman spends his time visiting sick children in hospitals and boosting their spirits.  Click here to read more.. »

LIVING LIFE IN THE SLOW LANE WITH LITTLE FREE LIBRARIES

Todd Bol from Hudson, Wisconsin set out to find a solution to the problem of cars  speeding in front of his house.  Thanks to one very creative idea to slow traffic down, Little Free Libraries were born.  Todd built libraries that look like a rather big mailbox and put books inside for anyone to take and read and placed them in his front yard.  Todd’s first library resembled a one room schoolhouse honoring his mother who was a teacher. The only thing he asked was  that you either return the book or replace it with one of your own so that others could have the same opportunity to enjoy the books.  Bol, along with Rick Brooks of Madison, Wisconsin, collaborated and Little Free Libraries started popping up around the world.   Click here to read more.. »

PLAYING FOR CHANGE

Although a single street musician inspiring a worldwide movenment sounds like the plot of an inspiring Hollywood movie, it is the origins of the Playing For Change Movement.  Mark Johnson, moved by the music of one street performer in Santa Monica, California, combined videos of street musicians with videos of other street performers across all continents.  Wanting to do more to give back to the musicians and their communities, the Playing For Change Movement was born.
