ISAAC SALAZAR’S CREATIVE BOOK ART

Posted in Art

Don’t judge American artist Isaac Salazar’s work by its cover!  This creative thinker from New Mexico works full time as an accountant and was looking for a hobby.  He started recycling old books and turning them into works of art.  Never having had an art class, it wasn’t until recently that Salazar would even accept the word “artist” as part of his title. He enjoys the idea of the books not ending up in the landfill.  Salazar is able to recycle the enjoyment that the books once provided, but now instead of being in literary form, it is in the form of visual art.  (http://www.isaacgsalazar.com/#/home)

GEORGE VLOSICH ETCH A SKETCH AFICIONADO

Posted in Art

Here’s another artist using a different type medium – George Vlosich is an Etch A Sketch artist.  He has been creating artwork on the toy since he was 10.  George has been able to combine his love of sports and art in much of his work.  Watch the  UTUBE video of one of his drawings starring the Chicago Cubs.  The piece itself took over 100 hours, which he condensed to about three minutes.  Once he has finished a piece, he removes the powder inside and the stylus so that the Etch A Sketch drawing can be preserved.  Check out some of his amazing works of art on his website http://gvetchedintime.com/

LIVING LIFE IN THE SLOW LANE WITH LITTLE FREE LIBRARIES

Posted in Art, Enlightening

Todd Bol from Hudson, Wisconsin set out to find a solution to the problem of cars  speeding in front of his house.  Thanks to one very creative idea to slow traffic down, Little Free Libraries were born.  Todd built libraries that look like a rather big mailbox and put books inside for anyone to take and read and placed them in his front yard.  Todd’s first library resembled a one room schoolhouse honoring his mother who was a teacher. The only thing he asked was  that you either return the book or replace it with one of your own so that others could have the same opportunity to enjoy the books.  Bol, along with Rick Brooks of Madison, Wisconsin, collaborated and Little Free Libraries started popping up around the world.   Click here to read more.. »
